Windows Mobile SideShow Renderer released to Beta
Today at Ikanos Consulting (http://www.ikanosconsulting.com) we are putting the finishing touches to our first Windows Mobile Windows SideShow beta.
In a nutshell, Windows SideShow is a Windows Vista component to extend PC content onto any type of remote display/device.
Over the last few months we've been busy developing a unique content framework to support numerous remote devices using almost any form of transport (Bluetooth/USB/WiFi/GPRS). Our first release is a Windows Mobile implementation. More devices will follow soon...
The advantage of this new content framework is the ability to connect to a content provider (ie: Windows SideShow) using any transport and then dynamically swap transport mechanisms without affecting the connection to the content provider. One scenario we've been working on internally is interacting with data inside the house using Bluetooth and then walking out of the house to interact with the data over GPRS. We have put alot of focus on ensuring that this experience is as seamless as possible.
The following screenshots demonstrate how content is viewed on the device. Over the coming weeks we will be adding more and more functionality to this software.
Currently we support glance-only data but full SCF renderering will be implemented gradually over the coming months.
If you would like to join our beta then please send an email to beta@ikanosconsulting.com.
Enjoy!
