Windows Vista SP1 RC1 Released to Public

The Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Release Candidate (RC) is now available to the public.

The service pack contains changes focused on addressing specific reliability and performance issues, it also suppoerts new types of hardware, as well as adding support for several new technologies. Service Pack 1 also addresses some management, deployment, and support challenges.

I will be installing to day!

If you install let us know how you get on.

Excellent! Nice one scott. I've managed to install on both my laptop and my pc, noticed a few slowdowns which is a bit strange. for example icons take a while to appear when going to computer.

Now that it says evaluation copy, does that mean at some point i will have to reinstall? or will i just have to put my licence keys back in or something?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ben

    First of Welcome to VistaSquad!

I’m may be wrong but as far as I know, you will probably have to remove the service pack or reinstall at some stage as your whole O/S status has now changed to an evaluation copy. (the price we pay for playing with Beta’s)

Now I seem to remember having some were a registry tweak that removed the evaluation notice that I used on Windows Vista RC1 I’ll have a play and let you know.

So far the only things I have found not to work quite as they should are my USB connections are now failing to see my mouse and DreamScene on my Ultimate edition seems to crash out more often.
