    Vista SP1 Beta Overview

Windows Vista SP1 Beta overview is a downloadable PDF file highlighting the key points to its upcoming release.

It will in short include all previously released updates, will focus on specific reliability and performance issues.

There will be added support for  new types of hardware, with additional support for several emerging standards.

SP1 will also addresses some management, deployment, and support challenges.

    Re: Vista SP1 Beta Overview

Ive been invited onto the vista sp1 beta program and ive accepted the invitation. Micorosoft said it would be ready for beta testers to download and test early september but ive not seen anything on the Microsoft connect site. Anyone else planning on beta testing that has any other info on it?

    Re: Vista SP1 Beta Overview

Yes I'm afraid its invitation only to beta test vista sp1. I've been a beta tester for microsoft for a couple of years now, I tested vista through the early stages upto the release. I've just installed the update version of SP1 today and really I dont see alot of improvement yet. Microsoft said the sleep problem would be fixed so that was the first thing I tested. to my dismay the sleep function is still buggy, My graphics drivers didnt load properly after I came out of sleep mode and it took some doing including removing my drivers and reinstalling them to get my dual display working properly and at the proper resolution, it was like taking a step back to how beta2 was with my display setup.

Ive got it all working now, I just need to find a way of removing that windows vista evaluation copy notice from my desktop. I dont like the idea of an os I bought and payed for showing as an evaluation copy. I know its just a small detail but it bugs me

Well the testing continues so I'll add more as I dig deeper into sp1

I tested Vista in two of its RC1 (public release) and also registered with Microsoft for the Beta 2 kit release of Home Server(which was extremely good). Do you know how I would go about becoming a proper Beta tester.

The best way to start on the road to beta testing for microsoft is to got here https://connect.microsoft.com/availableconnections.aspx and start applying for available programs. I met a microsoft executive at a tech event and voiced interest in beta testing so he sent me an invite to test vista beta1. Ever since ive been getting invites to beta test various Microsoft products

    Re: Vista SP1 Beta Overview

Just to let you know Vista SP1 RC was just released on the microsoft connect site for beta testers this week. If your an active MS beta tester either sign up for the beta program or if your not I'm sure you can find a way of getting the chance to test it by looking on the msdn blogs or forums

    Re: Vista SP1 Beta Overview

Well Ive had Vista SP1 RC1 installed a week now and I'm quite impressed. Its running far better than the last build. Its faster and much more stable. Its stable enough I'm now using it on my main pc. Everything works perfectly. Hopefully SP1 final will be ready for the masses soon.
