    Rebuilding the Index part II

    As an edition to re-building the index or stopping the service all together, Vista also gives you the option to include further area’s that you can catalogue and include in your searches.

     

    By default the Index service catalogues the following areas:-

     

    • Documents
    • Pictures
    • Music
    • E-mail
    • Contacts

     

    Vista also gives you the option to extend the Index function to include any extra place you may store information, even external or back up drives and network shares.

     

    1. Administrator account required.
    2. Open Start Menu and click Control panel.
    3. Chose System and Maintenance Icon.
    4. Click Indexing Option.
    5. Click Modify.
    6. Place a Check mark for your selected area to index.
    7. To Index an individual folder use the Arrows next to the drives to drill down.
    8. Click OK and Vista will add the location
